19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also means he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
